M&M Recycling, a leading scrap metal recycling company, is seeking a hardworking, reliable, and safety-conscious Equipment Operator to join our team. This operator will be responsible for operating our Scrap Metal Baler, a Harris Centurion Baler, to process and prepare scrap metal for sale.
No prior baler experience is necessary we'll train the right candidate!
Hours are 8-5pm M-F and 8-12 SAT (subject to change)
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate baling equipment to process clean, sorted metal scrap (training provided on Harris Centurion).
- Sort, clean, and separate different types of scrap metals prior to baling.
- Assist truck drivers by guiding them to proper unloading locations.
- Strap and weigh bales for inventory and shipping purposes.
- Perform daily pre-trip inspections and routine maintenance checks on the baler.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area around the machine and baling zone.
- Support the team by performing general labor tasks such as cleaning, preparing material, and assisting with yard operations.
- Cross-train on other equipment and responsibilities to support overall yard efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a scrap yard, recycling facility, or operating heavy equipment is a plus, but not required.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure only clean, market-ready bales are produced.
- Team-oriented with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy objects and perform physical labor throughout the shift.
