M&M Recycling, a leading scrap metal recycling company, is seeking a hardworking, reliable, and safety-conscious HEAVY Equipment Operator to join our team. This operator will be responsible for operating a backhoe/excavator and will be trained to also operate our Scrap Metal Baler.

No prior baler experience is necessary we'll train the right candidate!

Hours are 8-5pm M-F and 8-12 SAT (subject to change)

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate excavator and baling equipment to process clean, sorted metal scrap (training provided on Harris Centurion).
• Sort, clean, and separate different types of scrap metals prior to baling.
• Assist truck drivers by guiding them to proper unloading locations.
• Perform daily pre-trip inspections and routine maintenance checks on your equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area around the machine and baling zones.
• Support the team by performing general labor tasks such as cleaning, preparing material, and assisting with yard operations.
• Cross-train on other equipment and responsibilities to support overall yard efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a scrap yard, recycling facility, or operating heavy equipment is required.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure only clean, market-ready bales are produced.
• Team-oriented with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy objects and perform physical labor throughout the shift.
